“In the edit room” mode: sync a project you have already started
If you are an editor and need only sync, choose the “In the edit room” mode: the “Sync” and “Export” pages remain. You can drop the footage in as folders or open a project already started in an editing app: XML, FCPXML, AAF or EDL. After sync the sequence goes back to your app.
Two modes: “On set” and “In the edit room”
| “Where you work” | Which pages | Who for |
|---|---|---|
| On set | Offload → Footage → Sync → Export | The DIT, an assistant, the whole crew on the shoot |
| In the edit room | Only Sync and Export | An editor who needs only sync |
The mode is chosen on the start screen at first launch and changed in “Settings”: the “Where you work” line.
Sync footage from scratch
Choose “In the edit room”
Only “Sync” and “Export” remain.
Add the footage
“Add shoot folder” finds cameras, recorders and proxies and lays them out on tracks. You can simply drop folders or files into the window. Renders and music are skipped.
Sync and export
“Synchronize”, check the result and export the sequence to your editing app. More in the article “How to sync audio and video”.
Sync a project already started in an editing app
- In your editing app, export the sequence: Premiere Pro to XML, DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro to FCPXML, Avid to AAF, or any app to EDL.
- In MultiSyncer, on the “Sync” page, open the “+ Add files” menu → “Import XML”.
- The app reads the sequence and tells you how many tracks and clips it found.
- “Synchronize”, then export back to your editing app: the synchronized sequence comes back to you.
