“Footage”: reviewing your footage in one table

MultiSyncer Studio article · 2 min read

“Footage” is where you review the footage after the copy. The “Issues” view shows only what the check found; the “All footage” view gives a table of every clip with its camera settings. A clip can be viewed from the keyboard, and 2–4 clips compared side by side: different takes from the start, or different cameras of one take by timecode.

Two views: “Issues” and “All footage”

“Issues” shows only what the check found: a picture that breaks up, a stuck pixel, a very quiet recording, 50 Hz hum, radio mic dropouts and more. Every issue can be played and marked “Fail” or “OK”.

“All footage” is a table of every clip: file, camera, scene, take, ISO, shutter, iris, white balance, lens, length, rating, note and “Check” (the result of the clip's check). Filters: “All”, “Video”, “Sound”, “Not reviewed”.

The table can be saved: “Save clip table…” → Excel, CSV, Avid ALE or PDF.

Compare up to four clips

Select 2–4 clips and press “Compare”: they appear side by side.

  • ⌘-click (Ctrl-click on Windows) on a row adds a clip, ⇧-click selects several in a row, ⌘A (Ctrl+A on Windows) selects all;
  • “From the start”: each clip from its own start, for different takes;
  • “By timecode”: one moment of the shoot, for different cameras of one take;
  • the speaker icon on the picture shows whose sound you hear.

If more than four are selected, the first four are compared.

“Whole project”

This is the footage library: every clip from every copy day, search and filters, ratings and labels, viewing with the camera LUT and the same comparison of up to four clips. Nothing is synced here.
