Takes of one line: stacked or a sequence for each take Beta
The takes of one line are easier to compare when they sit one under another and start at the same time. MultiSyncer Studio finds the takes and stacks them, lays out the lines and pick-ups, and on export can make a sequence for each take. This is a test feature (Beta): check the result.
Beta A test feature: the app may split the takes wrongly. Check the result; everything can be fixed by hand or undone with ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows).
Why stack the takes
When one line was shot several times, the editor needs to compare the takes and pick the best. If the takes sit one after another, you have to hunt for them along the timeline. In “Takes sync” the takes of one line are stacked on tracks: the lines start at the same time and are easy to compare.
How to stack the takes
Open “Takes”
On the “Sync” page press “Takes” (with the Beta label) in the toolbar, next to “Sound analysis”. The button is active when there are tracks on the timeline. The “Takes sync” window opens. Choose the track (“Where the takes are”) and how the takes were recorded:
- “Each clip is a take”;
- “Several takes in one clip”: the app finds the repeats in a long recording.
You need at least two clips on the track.
Press “Find takes”
The app shows how many takes it found for the stack. Each has a status: “take”, “check” or “another line”. Any of them can be played with “Listen” and corrected: “It is a take”, “Not a take”.
“Stack”
The first take stays in place and the others go below it. The app tells you how many takes were stacked and how many of them are worth checking.
Several lines and pick-ups
If a recording holds several different lines, the app shows their list (“Lines: 3”). A line can be renamed, merged with the next one (“Merge with the next”) or a take can be marked “As its own line”.
“Lay out the lines”: the lines go in blocks one after another, the first take in place and the others below it. Pick-ups (when only a piece of a line was reshot) go on a separate track exactly under the part they replace. If it is not a pick-up, mark it “Not a pick-up”.
Undo. Any take layout can be undone with ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows).
Takes in the edit
On export the takes of one line can stay stacked, or you can choose “A sequence for each take”. Take marks (scene, take, “Good: to the edit”, comment) go to the editing app.
